About World Soccer
Museum
The 1994 Soccer World Cup drew record TV audiences in the United States. As part of the U.S.’s bid to host the 1994 World Cup, U.S. Soccer pledged to create a professional outdoor league.
Soccer is not popular in the U.S. for a few reasons : Historically it hasn’t been seen as an «American» sport, the men’s team hasn’t fared well in the World Cup, and the games don’t sit well with the U.S.’s culture of competition. Now, eleven U.S. cities will host the 2026 edition of the Soccer World Cup, along with Mexico and Canada.
Giving to communities a place to think, grow, learn, wonder, and feel is the purpose of the World Soccer Museum.
